Whether you are learning to fly from the beginning, learning aerobatics, fine-tuning your aircraft handling skills, or want a fast and reliable touring aircraft, the Academy has a comprehensive and modern fleet of aircraft to do the job right!

Robin R2160i:

The Australian Aerobatic Academy uses the fuel injected Robin 2160i as it’s primary training aircraft. The Robin R2000 series aircraft have been designed with flight training across the entire flight envelope as their design goal. The aircraft has good aerobatic performance, stable spin characteristics, sound general handling and predictable stall characteristics; all of which makes it a fantastic trainer. The AAA Aerobatic Course, iSPIN, UPRT and RPL courses are conducted in the Robin, along with our “UFLY!” Aerobatic flight training experience.

Pitts Special S-2A

For those looking for an aerobatic aircraft to go beyond the basics, the Pitts Special S-2A is the perfect platform. First designed and flown by Curtis Pitts in 1944, the Pitts Special has made more aerobatic champions worldwide than any other aircraft! The S-2A is capable of sustained negative-G manoeuvres, inverted spins and is the perfect mount to learn the intricacies of modern aerobatic monoplanes with even higher manoeuvrability. The S-2A is perfect for up to Intermediate category competition aerobatics. and is available to pilots completing our Advanced Aerobatics Courses, and a low level aerobatics endorsement to 1500 ft AGL.

EXTRA NG

The pinnacle of aerobatic performance! The all-new EXTRA NG is the highest performing, two seat, certified aerobatic aircraft IN THE WORLD! With a roll rate of nearly 400 deg/sec, climb rate of 3000 fpm, maximum speed of 220 kts and capable of +10 /-10 G flight, this aircraft is an absolute WEAPON! This is a serious piece of equipment designed to take you to the very edge of the aerobatic flight envelope. The EXTRA NG is available to graduates of our advanced aerobatics courses who hold a low level aerobatics endorsement to 1000′ AGL. For the thrill-seeker, we offer our EXTREME or ULTIMATE aerobatic flights – a truly unforgettable experience!

Piper PA28R Arrow III

The Piper Arrow is a derivative of the Piper PA28 “Cherokee” family with retractable undercarriage, a constant-speed propeller and more powerful 200 hp engine.  It makes for an economical touring machine with a cruise speed of 130 kts and good payload – which is why we use it for PPL Navigation Training.

VH-CEZ, or “Charlie” as she’s affectionately known, has been recently refurbished with a new interior, fresh paint and upgraded avionics. This isn’t your stock-standard 1970’s “spam can!” The Arrow is available for CSU and RU design feature endorsements, and for hire post-endorsement or PPL course graduation.

Beechcraft C33 Debonair

The Beechcraft Debonair is a four seat version of the famous Bonanza  series of aircraft, known for their ruggedness, reliability and honest flying characteristics.  With a 145kt cruise and good payload, the Deb’ is a comfortable long distance tourer! The Debonair is available for hire for PPL holders (or higher) with an instructor check flight.

Yakovlev “YAK 52TW”

The Yak 52TW a modern-build, tailwheel version of the Russian YAK 52 trainer. Originally used by the Soviets to train pilots for the Airforce of the USSR, this is a unique machine to fly. There is nothing like the sound and feel of a 9 cylinder, 415hp radial engine up the front! The YAK 52 is available for dual air experience flights for pilots wanting to try something different, and is also available for adventure flights through our colleagues at Air Combat Experience Sydney (ACES).
